By Air
Multiple flights arrive daily to Kilwa Masoko from various destinations within Tanzania and Zanzibar.
By Car
The trip by car from Dar es Salaam is approximately 330 km, of which 270 km is paved and 60 km is being developed. Depending on traffic and road conditions travel time can vary from 4-6 hours.
Below are directions to Kilwa Masoko from Dar es Salaam city center:
1. Heading south toward Julius Nyrere airport on Bibi Titi Mohammed St turn left at A 7/Morogoro Rd for 900 m
2. Turn right at B 2/Sokoine Dr Continue to follow B 2 Go through 1 roundabout for 2.2 km
3. Turn right at B 2/Kilwa Rd Continue to follow B 2 for 287 km
4. Turn left toward Nangurukuru – Kilwa Rd for 25.2 km
5. Continue straight onto Nangurukuru – Kilwa Rd for 3.1 km
6. Look for the Kilwa Ruins Lodge sign on the right side and follow signs to the lodge.
